  • Battle at Horseshoe Bend

    Battle at Horseshoe Bend
    2600 American soldiers, including 600 indians, fought against 1000 Indians at the battle of Horseshoe Bend. The Americans thought that their victory would win them land from the Native Americans. Jackson led the Americans to victory.

    The Battle of New Orleans was the last battle of the War of 1812. It happened after the war was over, but due to poor communication, they did not know it was over. The British outnumbered us, with 3000 more soldiers, yet we defeated them in 30 minutes.

    JOhn Quincy Adams won the presidency in the Election of 1824. There were four candidates for this election, one of them being Andrew Jackson. Jackson won the most electoral votes, but the House of Representatives decided who was president. They decided on Adams, and then Adams appointed Henry Clay to Secretary of State, which is a post previous presidents had held before taking office as president. Jackson called the election a "corrupt bargain" because he thought Adams and Clay had made a deal.

They threatened to secede if the tariffs were collected. Henry Clay made a compromise that made both sides happy, keeping South Carolina in the U.S.

    Worcester VS. Georgia
    This court case was in 1832. Georgia was on a mission to remove all Cherokee indians from their territories. The leader of the Cherokee, John Ross, took action. Instead of complying with Georgias laws, they refused to move and filed an action with the Supreme Court questioning the constitutionality of Georgia's laws. Cheif Justice John Marshall declared thet they had the right to stay in their land and the Cherokees kept their land.

    President Andrew Jackson did not like the 2nd U.S, Bank because he thought it was too powerful. Jackson eventually vetoed a charter to renew the bank, and when it was time for it to be renewed in 1836, it never was.
