Jackson enlists into Revolutionary War
Jackson enlists at the age of 13 because he had no one left alive in his family. Both his parents died while he was really young. His brother enlisted into the war, but died shortly after. -
Battle of Horseshoe Bend
Andrew Jackson lead a group of cherokee indians and men to go fight the "Red Sticks" at the bend of the tallapoosa river. The battle was a success for Jackson, and made him look like a bigger hero. -
Battle of New Orleans
The battle was between the U.S.A and England. Andrew Jackson led 4,000 men to war. Many of the men were untrained free slaves. As a resolt the U.S won, however this battle has an ironic twist. The battle occured after the war had ended! -
Election of 1824
Andrew Jackson, John Quency Adams, and Henry Clay were all running for president in this election. As a result it was a tie between Adams and Jackson. So what weere they to do? Well, it went to the house of representatives to decide the president. And for Adams it was wonderful. His BFF Henry Clay was the speaker of the house. In turn Henry made Adams pres. , so he could be promoted to Secretary of State. This was known as "the corrupt bargin". For Jackson this was terrible because he had lost. -
Election of 1828
The canidates were John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. SInce most of the supporters of Andrew Jackson were frustrated at his last loss they were more abundent this time in making sure they voted for him. This was the first mud-slide election. -
Indian Removal Act
Jackson delevered a message to congress telling them he wanted to move all indians away from mississippi and west alabama. He did this in order to increase population, wealth and power in the south. -
Bank War
The national bank was used to regulate economic policies. Jackson howver, felt that this bank was too powerfull and he vowed he would "kill it". Soon he would get that oppurtunity. When the bank charter had to be renued by the president, Jackson vetoed it. -
Worcester V. Georgia
It was a case over what should be done with the indians in Georgia. As a result indians were allowed to stay in Georgia.However, Jackson made a few rules after that which gave him more power to move indians from different territories. In other words, lead to the "Trail of Tears". -
Nulification crisis
Andrew Jackson made a "protective tariff" over all trade with European countires. This was great news for the north, however it was terrible for the south. As a result of this, South Carolinia decided that it was "illegal" and passed the Nullification Act. In turn, Jackson didn't agree with this, so SC decided that they would seceed. In order to keep the country together, Jackson lowerd the tariff.
