    Jackson was born in a log cabin in South Carolina.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Battle of New Orleans
    The last, and most bloody, battle of the War of 1812 was led by Andrew Jackson and was known as the Battle of New Orleans. The British were invading New Orleans and were defeated. Sadly this battle took place after the Treaty of Ghent, which ended the War almost a month ago.
  • Election of 1824

    Election of 1824
    The election of 1824 involved John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, William Crawford, and Henry Clay. While Andrew Jackson won the popular vote, no one won the electoral vote. So the choice rests on the House of Representatives to pick the next president. Henry Clay and Adams belonged to the same party and Clay being the Speaker of the House used his position to convince everyone to vote for Adams. This corrupt system was called the corrupt bargain.

    The election of 1828 was a rematch between John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. This time Andrew Jackson won by a landslide. This was the first time a common man became president and Andrew Jackson became the first president to be born in a log cabin.

    Nullification is the act of canceling a law or declaring it unconstitutional and that’s what South Carolina did with the Tariffs of 1828. They said it affected their economy and the sole purpose of it was to protect the industry of the North. Then Henry Clay came around and created a compromise decreasing the Tariffs and allowing the government to use force if a state wants to withdraw from the government.

    Worcester V. Ga
    This case was about the political standing of the Indian Tribes. The argument was that the states have no legal right to regulate Indian activities. John Marshall sided with the side that stated that the states have no such right. Worcester was a citizen arrested on Indian lands without a license and thus came the issue. But it was declared that states have no right to regulate Indian activities but Worcester was still sent to four years in hard labor for obstruction of law.

    Andrew Jackson disliked the National Bank because it was restricting the loans in the west where farmers needed them the most and whats more is that the president of the bank was not elected so they haven't commited to serving the people.

    Andrew Jackson enlisted in the army at age 13 as a courier for the local militia. Then when he was arrested he nearly died as a british soldier tried to but off his head because he wouldn't ship the soldiers shoes. After coming out of prision he became a soldier in the army.
