Jackson enlist in the Revolutionary Army.
Gained the name “Old Hickory” for being as tough as old hickory on the battle field. Joined the continental army when twelve. He rushed battle plans and important packages. He was soon captured by the british army. Had to work for one of the strongest british generals.He refused to shine his boots and earned a scar across his face and hands.Was soon released in a prisoner exchange. -
Battle of Horseshoe Bend
The battle of Horseshoe Bend was fought on March 27, 1814 during the war of 1812. At this battle Jackson defeated a tribe of Indians led by Tecumseh which ended the Creek War. -
Battle of New Orleans
The battle of New Orleans started on December 1814 and ended January 1815. Because of the American victory the British were forced to ratify the treaty of Ghent which ultimately ended the war. -
Election of 1824
Was a presidential election between the Whigs and the Democrats. Andrew Jackson won the popular vote but no one won the electoral college vote because there were so many candidates. It was decided in the house of representatives. John Quincy Adams was elected president in 1825. -

Even though the decisions became the foundation for the principle of tribal sovereignty in the twentieth century,it failed to protect the Cherokees from being removed from ancestral land. -

The Nullification crisis in December 19,1828 was when Jackson adopted the Ordinance of Nullification because of a issue with a protective tariff in South Carolina. The tariff was hurting southern planters so it was removed. -
