Election of 1824
The Election of 1824 was between 4 major candidates; Andrew Jackson, John Q. Adams, Henry Clay, William Crawford. Jackson won the popular vote but no one won the electoral vote. The House of Representatives then voted and made Adams the president after Clay dropped out. Adams later appointed Clay as his vice president. -
Nullification Crisis
In 1828 a protective tariff was passed. Southerners were made very mad by this because now their exports to Europeans countries. South Carolina was made especially mad, they threaten to secede. Henry Clay then came up with a resolution to lower the tariff but if anyone threatened to secede. -
Election of 1828
Jackson won the Election of 1828 against John Q. Adams by a landslide. Jackson finally got the popular vote. -
Indian Removal Act
Georgia began moving Native America west. The supreme court then gave Indians the right to stay in Georgia. Then the Indian Removal Act was passed giving the President the power to move Native Americans west of the Mississippi River. -
Worcester v. Georgia
There was tension between Natives and Georgia due to Gerogia trying to take Native land. Worechester then went to court with Georgia to maintain Indians rights to stay, Worechester then won the case. -
Bank War
Jefferson did not like the Bank because he thought that it had too much power. Jefferson the "killed it" by vetoing the bank charter when it was up for renewal.
