    The battle of New Orleans was a great comeback for the United States after the war or 1812. The British planned to separate Louisiana from the U.S. But since Americans were already warned about the upcoming attack, General Andrew Jackson already had a plan to fight back. There were well over 1,000 more British soldiers than U.S. troops, but Americans managed to defeat Britain, and make them retreat.

    During the election of 1824, you had to get 50 percent of votes in the electoral college to become president. The outcome of this election surprised many people. Andrew Jackson had the most votes, but unfortunately only adding up to 43 percent. Since they now had to choose between two candidates, this lead to a "corrupt bargain" between Henrey Clay and John Adams.
