Battle of Horseshoe Bend
1000 Native American men fought against Andrew Jackson and his European American forces (before he was president), made up of 2600 men. The Americans hoped that victory would grant them new land to open up settlement for themselves. Suprisingly, Jackson also had 600 Native Americans fighting on his side. the Americans ended up winning and gained Alabama. -
Bank War
The purpose of the Bank Alexander Hamiltion created was to regulate economy policies. Jackson disliked the Bank because he thought the Bank was too powerful and Jackson vowed "To protect the common man". So when it was time for the Bank to recieve its funds, Jackson said no and the national bank ceased to exist. -

The Election of 1824
Andrew Jackson, John Quincy Adams, Henry Clay & William Crawford were all candidates in the Election of 1824.The popular vote was won by Andrew Jackson, but then had to go to electoral vote. When the electoral college voted, no candidate won so it went to the House of Representatives who broke the tie. John Quincy Adams eventually won the tiebreaker & Andrew Jackson named this election the Corrupt Bargain because he thought John Quincy Adams made a deal with Henry Clay, costing him the election. -
Election of 1828
In the election of 1828, Jackson got his revenge for the previous election which was named the "Corrupt Bargain". Jackson won by a landslide because there was no influence from Henry Clay which in the previous election, Clay, influenced most of the House of Representatives which caused Jackson to lose the election. -
Nullification Crisis
The government put a protective tariff that sharply increased the price of all imported goods. This tax hurt the southerners & called it the "Tariff of Abominations". South Carolina declared the tariff illegal by passing the Nullification Act.This wasn't good enough, so when South Carolina decided to secede, Jackson went to seek help from Henry Clay. Clay decided that they should lower the tariff and he allowed Jackson to use military force if any state decide to secede from the U.S. again. -
Indian Removal Act
Georgia wanted to attract more white settlers, so they began moving Native Americans out west. The Supreme Court case Worcester v. Georgia ruled that Georgia did not have the right to move Indians. On May 28, 1830, the Indian Removal Act was signed by Andrew Jackson which allowed the president to move the Indians to Mississippi. It was a long and hard journey for the Indians, which led to what is now called The Trail of Tears, an event where many Indians suffered and died. -
Worcester v. Georgia
Georgia had been working for a long time to remove the Cherokees from their state. In 1827, the Cherokees established a constitutional government, angering Georgia, making them work to extend their jurisdiction over the Cherokees in their land. After many back & forth conflicts, like Georgia annexing Cherokee lands & aboliting their government, Samuel Worcester fought in the Worcester v. Georgia case, & the court ruled in favor of the Cherokees. They were then recognized as an independent nation
