    One example of an Artificial satellite is Sputnik 1 which is only 585mm wide. An artificial satellite is a man made object that is launched into space and orbits a planet and sends information back to the station without landing on the planet. Sputnik 1 was launched by the Soviet Union.

    An orbital mission is when you orbit earth. One person who did this for a very long time and was the first women in space was Valentina Tereshkova of the Soviet Union. She orbited Earth 48 times in over a three day period!!!!

    From 1969-1972 there have been six mission to the moon with 12 astronauts walking on the moon. The first moon landing for the U.S.A. Was Apollo 11 in 1969 the last one was Apollo17 in 1969.
