  • 12,000 BCE

    Migrants

    Migrants
    In this time period, migrants first arrived in the United States of America. Many immigrants came to America looking for better economic oppurtunity. Some also came seeking for religious freedom.
  • 10,000 BCE

    Agriculture

    This time period was when agriculture began in the Middle East. People began to farm and it was much easier for the dynasties to have food. After agriculture began there wasn't a need to be nomads anymore.
  • 5000 BCE

    Harrappan Civilization

    Harrappan Civilization
    The Harrappan Civilization lasted for about 2,000 years. During these years, they started religous practices, and they also started farming and urbanization. The Harrappans were a peaceful group and they ended up dying off. To this day, we don't know what happened to them.

    Indian Cities

    Indian Cities
    Around this time, the Harrappans developed two cities. The cities were named Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa. These cities were updated and made for a succesful civilization for the Harappans.

    Gilgamesh

    Gilgamesh
    Gilgamesh was written on clay tablets. Gilgamesh was the Ancient Mesopotamian's type of poem. It's known as the oldest piece of epic western literature.

    Hammurabi's Code

    Hammurabi's Code
    Hammurabi's code is a statue with hundreds of very specific codes of law used in Ancient Mesopotamia. The best saying for the code is "An eye for an eye". Hammurabi's code was severely strict and many people were killed or severely hurt because of the breaking of the code.

    The New Kingdom

    The New Kingdom
    The New Period was about a 500 year period. During this time a lot happened including the Valley of the Kings being built and King Akhenaten establishing a new religous order praising Aten. There was also a famous female Pharoah.

    Aryans

    Aryans
    In this year, the Aryans started to migrate into the Indus Ruver Valley. They were originally nomadic northerners from Central Asia but after the Harrappan Civilization disappeared, they decided to take over their land. The Aryans did well in the Valley and ended up expanding more into India.

    First Pyramid

    First Pyramid
    The first Egyptian pyramid was built. This step pyramid was built for Pharoah Djoser. It was built for his burial.
  • 417 BCE

    Warring States Period

    Warring States Period
    The Warring States Period was a period of time when leaders used violence to solve a problem. It was when leaders of different areas fought for control of all the land. This was not a shccesful period of time and it didn't solve the leaders' problems.
  • 332 BCE

    Alexander the Great

    Alexander the Great
    Alexander the Great conquered Egypt. Ptolemy becomes the king. Greek culture is spread through Egypt and the city of Alexandria was founded.
  • 221 BCE

    Qin Shi Huangdi

    Qin Shi Huangdi
    Qin Shi Huangdi became the first emperor of China. He also built the Great Wall of China. This was a succesful year because his people were protected from the Mongols.
  • 210 BCE

    Burial of Emperor Qin

    Burial of Emperor Qin
    In this year, Emperor Qin was buried, but he didn't have a small or normal tomb. There were around 8,000 clay soldiers buried with him, called the Terracotta Army. The army surrounded Qin to protect him in the after life.
