The Olympic games

776 BCE

The Olympic games(which was originally a festival for Zeus) Started out as competitive games .later became a footrace, as the main event. This only held in Greek city-states, but is now held world-wide all around different stadiums.

Greek drama

532 BCE

Greek drama started as a large outdoor theater that only rich men could afford. About 15,000 Athenians gathered to see plays. The main to genres of plays would be comedies and tragedies. Greek drama also started as a religious festival just like the Olympics.

city-states develop

500 BCE

These city-states were created on the shores of the Aegean sea.Most were in modern day Greece, while others were on the coast of Asia Minor, Italy and so on

The Persian wars

499 BCE

The Persian wars the three main wars are Thermopylae, Marathon, and Salamis. The city-state of Miletus chose to rebel against the Persian rule then they asked other city-states such as Greece to help rebel. Afterwards Athens revolted the Persians and the Persians were angry the war began from there, and at the end The Athenians were victorious

Socrates

Socrates was one of the famous Greek philosophers Socrates did not write anything but his student wrote about him,his student was Plato. Socrates was very different from other Greek philosophers,he didn't like questions about the Earth and how it was created, he liked questions of human beings and behavior

The Peloponnesian War

The Peloponnesian war was between Athens and Sparta. The battle started with Athens refusing to do a land battle and would hole up behind the walls they built and used their navy to send supplies then attack the coast of Peloponneus. Plato

427 BCE

Plato loved traveling, he traveled from place to place for a lot of years. In 387 B.C he started a school and it was named The Academy Raphael(a famous painter) painted this and its called The School Of Athens. Plato recorded Socrates' conversations with people and that are called The Dialogues.

Aristotle

384 BCE

Aristotle was Plato's student his father was a doctor in the court of the king Amyntas III. Aristotle studied with Plato until he built a school of his own,the Lyceum.

Alexander the not so great and the Hellenistic period

356 BCE

Alexander was a brave general and he was daring and had conquered more land then anyone else. Alexanders troops were very loyal to him because he fought by their side.Eventually Alexander conquered most of the known world. After Alexanders death the Hellenistic culture spread and before he died he said the kingdom should be given to the strongest but never said specifically who. Their was a library known as the library of Alexandra based on the city and it was called the center of learning.

The golden age of Athens

After Athens battle was finished Athens quickly grew more powerful and the Delian League was created. This league was created for the purpose of protecting themselves from attacks again. Pericles was the reason for the Golden age of Athens,he was the most powerful and influential man in Athens and he didnt go to parties because he thought it was a waste of time and he left early at the only one he went to.
