Pericles thought that the Spartan army was a lot stronger than their Army so the Athenians hid inside there walls and would send ships to attack small islands that where in the Peloponnesian league, and take there supplies. At the end Pericles died to the plague and the Athenians got a general that was no help, and ended up losing, and therefor the Golden age of Athens was over.
