The Olympic games where held in Olympia, they where held every four years. The Olympics where originally held as a festival to Zeus at first it was a 200 yard run, the prize for winning was a wreath made of olive leaves and honor.

Athens

508 BCE

Athens was founded in 508 BC
Athenian school thought logic, reading, writing, arithmetic, and music. Not everybody in Athens where citizens to be a citizen you had to be male, 18 years and up, you could not be a slave, and you had to be the son of 2 Athenian parents.

Pericles

495 BCE

Pericles was reelected for one of the ten strategoi or generals,eventually he became one of the most powerful man in Athens. One of Pericles's skills was being a Orator, He was known as a hard worker and had good military power.

Golden age

480 BCE

The ruler of Athens during the Golden age was Pericles, he Helped build the Parthenon and lead Athens to keep growing. During the Golden age Athenian drama grew popular.the plays where to honor the gods.

Socrates

470 BCE

Socrates Grew up during the Golden age of Athens and also saw the destruction of the Golden age. Socrates fought in the Peloponnesian War all we know about Socrates is from one of his students Plato.

Parthenon

447 BCE

A building Built in Athens during the Golden age was the Parthenon, the Parthenon was a temple to Athena. The Parthenon was considered to be the best Greek building it was used to hold gun powder.

Peloponnesian War

430 BCE

The Peloponnesian War lasted twenty-five years as Athens and Sparta fought. Pericles thought that the Spartan army was a lot stronger than their Army so the Athenians hid inside there walls and would send ships to attack small islands that where in the Peloponnesian league, and take there supplies. At the end Pericles died to the plague and the Athenians got a general that was no help, and ended up losing, and therefor the Golden age of Athens was over.

Plato

427 BCE

When Socrates got executed Plato left Athens because he felt like he was not welcomed there anymore. Plato would write about the dialogues that Socrates would have with other people, Plato was more idealistic than Socrates.

Aristotle

384 BCE

Aristotle was a student of Plato, Aristotle's dad was a doctor who thought Aristotle to observe the world around him carefully. Aristotle studied at Plato's school for 20 years and left to make another school called the Lyceum.

Alexander the great

356 BCE

Alexander was one of Aristotle's student, his Father was king Philip II king of Macedonia. Alexander attacked the Persians with.30,000 men and 5,000 men on horse-back and no navy and won and conquered Persia, Asia Minor, and most of Egypt.
