Homer composes a great Greek poem that is a well-known classic that is full of adventure.

Democracy begins in Athens

550 BCE

Democracy had finally started in Athens. A democracy is when people vote for a specific person to have a significant role like being a treasurer or prime minister. Many countries even developed this idea and created different parties like Labour and Liberal. The party with the most votes makes their leader the prime minister. Countries that break their democracy usually want more power in a country and usually turn into a monarchy.

The Greeks defeat Persian invaders.

490 BCE

Darius the great wanted to rule Greek and had finally failed after losing.

Battle of Salamis

Themistocles leads Greece to win against Persia. Persia was lead by the son of Darius the Great. The son was called king Xerxes 1.

Athens takes control over an empire

450 BCE

Athens took control of the Delian league after Athens and Sparta made a peace and attacked Persia. The Athens lost control on 404 BCE after Sparta had defeated them.

Greek Plays were performed in Athens

440 BCE

Athens had just opened the theater that looked like a colosseum.

Parthenon is finished in Athens

432 BCE

This was a major temple that finished construction in 432 BCE.
