The Theban victory knocked down Sparta's influence over the Greek society (Sparta had power ever since the Peloponnesian War). Theban army had an approximate value of 6000 to 9000 soldiers. Spartan army had about 10000. -

Hippocrates of Kos was a talented physician at the Classical Greek age. He was the founder of the Hippocratic School of Medicine and established medicine as a proffesion. Was one of the first people credited to believe in the natural cause of disease without superstition and religion. -

The Peloponnesian War re defined ancience Greece. Athens was the strongest city-state before the war, and by the time the war ended, it was reduced to almost nothing. Sparta became the leading power of Greece. All of Greece was thrown into poverty, Athens was the most poor. -

The temple was dedicated to the godess, Athena (patron of Athens). There was an original Parthenon (called the Old Parthenon) that was destroyed in the Persian invasion. There was a small shrine inside of the Parthenon that was used for the worshipping and connection to Athena. Has a large statue of Athena inside with precious metals. -

Meaning citizenship and body of citizen. According to Plato, there wer 5 classes in any polis ranking lowest to highest: producers, merchants, sailors/shipowners, retail traders, and wage earners. Some morals within a polis that kept the people strong included courage, wisdom, justice and moderation. Where trades and markets would take place. -

The first Olympic Games take place (776 BCE)
The first games were dedicated to the Olympian gods and were held on the fields of Olympia. They were held for nearly 12 centuries. The goal of the games was to showcase performance and evolution of young people. When you would win you would be: blessed with a palm branch by a Greek judge, given flowers, covered with red ribbons on your head and hands, crowned with a sacred olive tree wreath. The ceremony toom place in the tample of Zeus.
