    Battle Of Megiddo
    In 1479 at the battle of Megiddo, Pharaoh Tuthmosis III had over 20,000 soldiers under his command.Whilst the Syrians had only had 15,000 men in their army. The Egyptians had won the battle capturing over two hundred chariots and two thousands horses from the from the defeated Syrians. The battle of Megiddo was the first battle that has been recorded in detail.

    Battle of Kadesh

    Battle of Kadesh
    This battle took place in the city of Kadesh which is located in Syria. The Egyptians were led by Ramesses II, who commanded an army of 20,000 men divided into four divisions. Each division was named after a major Egyptian deity Amun, Ptah, Ra and Sutekh. Kadesh was under Hitties control and taking the city was key to controlling Syria.

    Battle of Delta
    The battle of the Delta was fought by Pharaoh Ramesses III against the invading Sea Peoples. The archers both on land and on the ships devastated the enemy. The Sea Peoples ships were over turned, and many were killed and captured. This was an important victory for Egypt.

    Assyrians attacked Egypt and controlled the country until 525 BCE. The well organised Assyrian army, equipped with iron weapons, swept through Ancient Egypt.

    Persians conquered Egypt led by Emperor Cambyses II and controlled the country until 332 BCE. In the battle the Egyptians lost 50,000 soldiers where as the Persian side only lost 7,000. The Persian soldiers used cats as shields because they knew the Egyptian religion was against harming cats.

    Alexander the Great took possession of ancient Egypt. He brought his army to help the Egyptians expel the Persians.

    Battle of Actium

    Battle of Actium
    Romans went to war against the Egyptians in the Battle of Actium. This was a naval battle commanded by Egyptian Mark Antony and was supported by Queen Cleopatra of Egypt. The Egyptians had 500 ships and 70,000 infantry, whilst the Emperor Octavian from Rome had 400 ships and 80,000 infantry. Egypt became part of the Roman Empire.
