Augustus Caesar
Augustus reigned from 27 AD until 14 AD. He was given the title Exalted One by the Senate. He exercised absolute power and named his successor just as a king would do. He created an organized government with a civil service. He also implemented the census, postal service, and built roads. -

Roman Architecture
Roman architecture was superior because of concrete, arches, and domes. The Romans invented concrete which was a useful and long-lasting material. Arches were built as a statement of power. Large spaces typically developed into a dome.
The Romans were also famous for building stadiums which could be 15 stories high and had a series tunnels and stairs allowing large crowds to enter and exit. These classical features are still in use today in our modern sports stadiums. -

Constantine founded Constantinople as a "new Rome" which he made a wealthier and more powerful capitol on the Eastern side of the Empire. -
