In 2000 BC lots of different communities didn't like each other so there were lots of walls that blocked off different communities from each other. There was one community named Erlitou that had discovered how to mine bronze. Then from there they were considered China's first state. -

The battle of Talas
From the year 630, Tang rulers of China wanted to expand their dynasty onward into central Asia. But the Arabs also wanted Central Asia, so one day when the Tang were walking about they got attacked by the Arabs in Talas. The Arabs won and the Chinese never went back to Central Asia again.
