    They took them so they could be used as slaves on their island heavly fortified by castle walls.

    Started out 10 feet above the high water mark, their vessel contained 1000 separate cells, dirty and damp 6 '7'' high, 3'3'' wide and 7' long.
    Sing sing sent an estimated 614 people to the death chair.
