Give gifts to the Oto and Missouri Indians
Lewis and Clark give peace metals, 15 star flags and other gifts to the indians so that they would be allowed to stay with them during the winter.
Importance: They need needed the help of the Native Americans in order to survive -
One man dies
Near Sioux city, Iowa, Sgt. Charles Floyd dies of a probable bust Appendix.
Importance: Over the long and hard journey only one man lost his life and Captains named hilltops where he is buried Floyd’s Bluff and a nearby stream Floyd’s river -
never before seen prarie dog
The men attempt to drown a prarie dog out of its hole to ship back to Jefferson.
Importance: During their trip they came across many animals and this was one they have never seen before and wanted to bring home to show everyone. -
meeting of Sacagawea
Sacagawea, a Shoshone who had been captured by the Hidatsas and sold to Charbonneau, help then navigate their way and talked to the native americans.
Importance: Without her, they wouldnt have been able to finish their journey. -
A New Baby Is Born!
Sacagawea gives birth to a baby boy, Jean Baptiste
Importance: It shows how strong Sacagawea was for not only did she lead the men threw the elements but she gave birth and took care of a new born baby. -
killing the bear
Lewis and another hunter kills a large grizzly bear.
Importance: This was never done before and never been described for science. -

scouting ahead of the rest of the expedition lewis and clarck discover four more waterfalls taking them another month to get past them.
impartance:if they havent had traveled this way they would have never found the great water falls of missouri -
Lewis finds more mountains
The shipment sent from fort Mandan arrives in the East and is delivered to Jefferson. Lewis ascends the final ridge tward the Continental Divide expecting to see plains and a river flowing to the Pacific, but he finds even more mountains.
Importance: With out this descovery Lews and Clark may have maped out the US compleatly wrong. -
Discovers village of Shoshones
Lewis discovers a village of Shoshones and tries to negotiate for horses. Clark and the rest of the expedition arrives as well, and it discovered that the Shoshone chief Camahwait is Sacagawea's brother.
Importance: With out the horses the men may never have been able to make the journey, also there was a possibility that the Indians would not let them take their horses but luckily the chief was Sacagawea’s brother making them getting the horses and definite. -
Lewis and Clark reach St. Louis
After there extremely long journey, Lewis and Clark finally reach their destination.
Importance: They were the first people to cross the entire continent. If they never made it across the continent we would never have been able Map out the US, Find new Species, or get on good terms with the Native people.
