French and Indian war
The French and Indian war started in 1754 and it ended in 1763, it was a war between the French/England vs the Native Indians over the land. -
Sugar Act
British added tax on sugar, molasses and many other stuff that the british are sending to the colonies. The reaction of the American colonists was boycotting the british sugar products by the help of James Otis a Massachusetts lawyer. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was British adding tax on any legal documents and commercial documents that includes contracts, newspapers diplomas and even playing cards. The colonists protested this act bitterly, They organized the Stamp Act Congress in New York City to decide what they should do. Sons of Liberty have burned every stamp and legal paper they could find. -
Townshend Act
The townshend act was British adding taxes on imports like glass, paper, paint, lead and tea. Also allowed British officers to search homes and businesses for smuggled goods. The reaction of American colonists were boycotting and protesting against the British. -
Tea Act
The tea act was British said that all colonists had to buy all of their tea from England. The colonists responded to the british with the Boston Tea Party which it took time on December 16th, 1773. Some men from Sons of Liberty wore like Indian Americans and threw all of the tea from England's ships into the river. -
Coercive Acts
The British blocked boston harbor there is no ships were allowed to come in or out. Until the tea from the Boston Tea Party was paid back to the British. All of the colonies, except Georgia met in the First Continental congress. The congress decided to ban all of the trades with England until they remove the taxes. -
The first Continental congress
The first Continental congress was in Philadelphia to discuss the problem of the coercive act. The continental congress made a list of rights and sent it to the king. -
Revolutionary War started
The Revolutionary War started on April 19th, 1775 with the first battle, battle of Lexington and Concord. Later on when the Declaration of Independence was signed, General George Washignton was assigned to become the leader of the continental army. -
The declaration of Independence
The declaration of Independence was writing by Thomas Jefferson and edited by Benjamin Franklin and John Adams. It had three different parts, Basic human rights, List of grievances, or complaints, against King George lll, A formal statement of independence. It was adobted on July 4th, 1776 but signed by the delegates on Aguest 2nd, 1776. -
Battle of brooklyn
Battle of Brooklyn was a great victory for the british. The british 32,000 troops and the Americans had only 10,000 soldiers. General George washigton decided to run away and escape with his army from NYC. The British controled NYC until 1783. -
Battle of Trenton
In Battle of Trenton the british had 1,400 soldiers, meanwhile Americans were 2,400 soldiers. Washignton crossed the delaware river and suprised the Hessians on christmas eve. This battle was a great victory for the Americans and it rebuilt the americans morale in the war. -
Battle of Saratoga
During Battle of Saratoga was a turning point in the American revolution war. The french entered the war against the British after this battle. Americans had 12,000~14,000 soldiers and British had 7,000 soldiers. This battle was a victory for the Americans, 6,222 British soldier was captured as prisoners.
The British's general John Burgoyne surrendered after 10 days of the battle. -
Surrender of Yorktown
There were 8,800 Americans and 7,800 French, and 7,500 British soldiers. The French and Washington’s army totally surrendered Virginia from all the sides that an army can escape from; thus Cornwallis surrendered and announced that the Revolutionary war is over on October 1781. -
Treaty of Paris
United States and Great Britain have signed a peace treaty, The property of the loyalists to the Great Britain must be restored, the debts owed to the British merchants must be paid back. Since that day, United States became it's own independent country.
