The Americans were not happy with Burgoyne's idea, so they retreated in Burgoyne's path, they destroyed tree's and knocked tree's in the road to slow his force down. In October 1777 Burgoyne surrendered his army.

    Washington's trrops joined Lafayette's troops. Britian's Cornwallis is left to face on army twice the size of his own. Cornwallis suffered many casualities at Cowpens, South Carolina. Unable to escape, Cornwallis surrenders to Washington on October 19, 1781. It starts in New England and heads south to South Carolina.
