American Revolutionary Timeline

  • The French and Indian War

    After the war, the British appearances became more so than not. In a way to pay off their debt for the war, the British set taxes on the colonies to make back money. As a result, the colonists aren´t very happy and this lights the spark for the beginning of the Revolution.
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act had put tax on all sugar products like rum and raw sugar. However, the colonists were not very happy when the British had initiated this act because it was an indirect tax and without the colonists consent. As a response to the Sugar Act, the colonists
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act put tax on all printed goods. Aside from the Sugar Act, the Stamp Act was a direct tax which was separate from the product. They did this to pay back the debt from the French and Indian War. The colonists were mad because they thought the British Parliament shouldn´t have the right to tax them. In a few years time, the colonists rose a rebellion against the British.
  • Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act requires that American´s must house and feed British troops in the Colonies at any time. The colonists were upset to this change because the British troops could go to their house and stay for as long as they want including doing whatever they want in the house and can take their money. As a result of this act, the colonists didn´t find the act legal because of the Bill of Rights and so it was hard for British troops to find a place to stay in the colonies
  • Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act was an indirect tax put on products like glass, paint, tea and other products. This act replaces the Stamp Act but is repealed within 4 yeas following the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Massacre

    5 people are killed in a mob by British soldiers. As a result to this, colonists used this event as a way to boost themselves forward in their plan to push back the British out of the colonies.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act put tax on tea. As many people drink tea, many colonists were upset about this tax. The Sons of Liberty assemble and react by forming a plan which becomes the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Where colonists dressed up as Mohawk Indians and boarded a British ship to dump all the imported tea from the king, into the harbor. As a result to this event, the British ended the Townshend Act but kept the tea act.
  • Intolerable Acts

    As a result of the Boston Tea Party, the British Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts which were punishment acts for the people of Massachusetts. One act states that the port of Boston be closes until the people pay their tax on tea. This lead to protesting in Boston.
  • Lexington and Concord

    British Troops marched to take a weapons cache held by the Rebels. When the British shows up, the militia end up killing over 700 soldiers and start the American Revolutionary War.
