Boston Tea Party
In a protest on taxation without representation, a group of Boston citizens attacked East India Company merchandise ships dressed as Native Americans and dumped a vast and detrimental amount of tea into the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
British Parliament enacted the four Intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act in an attempt to subjugate and intimidate Massachusetts. In reality, this was used as justification for the first meeting of the First Continental Congress. -
First Continental Congress
Convening of the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia. 56 delegates were present representing all colonies except Georgia. -
Paul Revere's Ride
Paul Revere rode from Charlestown to Lexington to warn of the incoming British army on their way to seize Concord. Was a successful event, allowing the revolutionists to react in time.
