French & Indian War
It was a war between Great Britain and France. Great Britain wom and gains Canada but loses a lot of money from the war. It relates to the American Revoltion because Great britain wanted the American colonies to pay some of the price of the war. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was everything printed or written must be done on paper that had a stamp on it proving that a tax had been paid. It related to the American Revoltion because the American colonies had to pay for things like marriage certificates, books and newspapers. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre happened because colonists attacked a group of British soldiers that were guarding a customs house. It realtes to the American Revolution because five colonists end up dead, word of the "massacre" spreads throughout the colonies. -
Boston Tea Party
the Tea Act made colonists buy their tea only from the British East India Company, which hurt many local merchants. It was important to the American Revolution because colonists dressed as Indians and dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor, wasting about $750,000 in today's money. -
Intolerable Acts
Great Britain stopped all ships coming into the Boston Harbor until the tea was paid for. The Royal Governer could ban public meetings and British officials and soldiers accused of crime would have a trial back in Great Britain. Also another Quartering Act was passed. It related to the American Revolution because other colonies were scared the king would do this to them. -
Lexington & Concord
British soldiers leave Boston to capture American soldiers and supplies. It was important to the American Revolution because it was the first battle of the American Revolution, though no one knows who shot first and no ammunition was found. -
Declaration of Indepence
It was a document saying that the thirteen colonies were no longer apart of the British Empire. It was important to the American Revolution because they were nolonger part of Great Britain. -
Saratoga
An entire British army surrendered. It's important to the American Revolution because Frace signs alliances with the colonies. -
Yorktown
It was the last major battle of the American Revolution. The colonies captured many British soldiers. It's important to the American Revolution because it helpeed to end thwe American Revolution. -
Treaty of Paris
A treaty, signed by Great Britain reresentatives and King George III, that ended the American Revolution. It was important because the Revolution was over and the colonies weren't apart of Great BRitain any longer. -
Constitution
People of the colonies signed the Constitution which says what kind of government the colonies will now have. It's important beacuse the people finally got what they wanted. -
Bill of Rights
The first ten amendments in the Declaration. It's important to the American Revolution because it gave people freedom.
