Sons of Liberty
The Sons of Liberty consisted of a grassroot group of instigators and provocateurs who used a major form of civil disobedience. They used violence against the loyalists and make the British government mad. -
Stamp Act of 1765
There would be stamps on lots of papers, documents, and even playing card which indicated that colonists had to pay a tax. The act was urged by the British governments without any approval. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers that were guarding the Boston Customs House broke out in a fight with a patriot mob. Several men died that day. -
Boston Tea Party
A protest which happened in Boston, Massachusetts. Many American colonists were upset at Britain for following through with, taxation without representation and dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. -
Battles of Lexington & Concord
This marked the start of the American War of Independence. It convinced many Americans to take up arms and support independence. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The Battle of Bunker Hill was a big fight that took place in a landscapes with many hills. The New England soldiers faced the British army for the 1st time and this fight is now well known. -
Olive Branch Petition sent to England
The Olive Branch Petition was sent to the king to try and stop war from happening. The petition highlighted their rights as citizens and their loyalty to the British crown. -
Battle of Trenton
George Washington's army won after crossing the Delaware River in a bad storm. The army defeated a garrison of Hessian mercenaries at Trenton. -
Articles of Confederation created
A loose confederation of sovereign states was created. This left most of the power to the state governments. -
Battle of Camden
The British had a successful victory in South Carolina. It is one of the biggest defeats in the American army. -
Battle of Yorktown
The British troops surrendered and were outnumbered. They had great losses during a 3 week siege. -
Treaty of Paris
A treaty that was signed between the American colonies and Great Britain. This ended the American Revolution and The United States became independent. -
Constitutional is Ratified
The constitutional has to be approved by others to take action. When it's approved by 9 out of the 13 state legislatures it can then happen.
