Passed by British parliament to put tax on stamps to make up for money lost in the French and Indian War. -
Quartering Act
Parliament passed the Quartering Act, requiring that the colonies house British soldiers in barracks. These barracks were to be provided by the colonist. -
Declaratory Act
Passed by British parliament saying that the British government had complete and total legislature over the colonies. -
Townshend Acts
A series of acts put in place to tax the colonies and get money back lost in the French and Indian War. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers fired into a crowd of colonist. 5 colonist were killed. -
Tea Act
Passed by British parliament to put tax on tea to make up for money lost in the French and Indian War. -
Boston Tea Party
Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Mohawk Indians and dumped about 90,000 lbs of tea into Boston Harbour. -
Intolerable Acts
Passed in response to the Boston Tea Party. These acts closed Boston Harbour, made British officials immune to prosecution in Massachusetts, restricted Massachusetts government, and made colonist house and quarter British troops. -
1st Continental Congress
Took place in response to the Intolerable Acts. Militias were set up in the colonies. -

The battles that started the Revolutionary War. -
2nd Continental Congress
Appointed George Washington the Commander for the Revolutionary War. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
British defeated the Americans in Massachusetts. Despite their loss, this boosted the confidence of the Americans because they had inflicted many casualties. -

Was written by Thomas Jefferson. Declared the United States independent from Great Britain. -
First Battle of Saratoga
First attack of the Battles of Saratoga. The British attacked from Canada and won, but this costed them many men. -
Second Battle of Saratoga
Second attack from the British 18 days after first. The British had been greatly affected by the first attack, and lost the second and were forced to retreat. This battle is when the French recognized the colonies cause and agreed to join the war. -
Battle of Yorktown
Battle in Yorktown, Virginia that ended the fighting in the American colonies. -
Treaty of Paris
Treaty between the United States and Great Britain that ended the Revolutionary War and recognized the United States as independent from Britain.
