King George III
King George III, the King of Great Britain and Ireland, had the longest life of 81 years and reign of 60 years and experienced many conflicts throughout it. The various conflicts that happened through his reign were the Seven Year War, the American Revolution, and the French Revolution. -
French and Indian War
The French and Indian War or otherwise known as the seven-year war involved Austria, Great Britain, Prussia, France, and England. The war happened from 1754 to 1763 and spread out across India, North America, and Europe. The war relates to the colonies because Britain decided to raise the Coloniest's taxes which lead to the idea of the colonists revolting. -
Proclamation of 1763
This proclamation ended the French and Indian War.This royal proclamation closed down colonial expansion westward beyond Appalachia. -
The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act increased the number of foreign goods to be taxed including sugar, certain wines, coffee, pimiento, cambric and printed calico, and further, lumber and iron. The combined effect of the new taxes was to sharply reduce the trade with Madeira, the Azores, the Canary Islands, and the French West Indies all important trading partners. This reduced the markets to which the colonies could sell. -
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was Parliament's first serious attempt to assert governmental authority over the colonies. The King required a stamp on imported items to sow the tax had been paid. -
The Boston Massacre
British troops were increasingly present in the city of Boston and they were unwelcome. The riot began when about 50 citizens attacked British troops with snowballs killing 3 people and wounding 8. -
The Boston Tea Party
This is a picture of me about to toss my bail of tea overboard! The colonists were not happy about the Tea Act. They dressed up as Indians, boarded the boats and tossed all the tea from the British East Indian Trading company overboard as an act of rebellion. -
First Continental Congress
The Congress meets in Philadelphia and issues Declaration and Resolves which is a statement of principles common to all of the colonies. The Congress voted to meet again the following year if these issues were not attended to by England. -
Lexington and Concord
Minutemen and redcoats battle at Lexington and Concord. These were the opening shots fired to start the American Revolution. -
Patrick Henry's Speech
Mr. Henry delivers his most famous speech where he said "give me liberty or give me death!" This became a rally cry for the pending war with England. -
Second Continental Congress
One year later and it was clear that there would be war. The second Continental Congress agreed that a Continental Army would be created. -
George Washington
The Second Continental Congress commissioned George Washington of Virginia to be the supreme commander of the newly formed army. -

Congress Adopts the Declaration of Independence
Congress debates and revises the Declaration of Independence. -
Washington Crosses Delaware
This battle was organized by George Washington as a surprise attack on the British. -
Treaty of Alliance
The Treaty of Alliance is between France and the United States.The treaty provided for a defensive alliance to aid France should England attack. America now had a powerful country at their side to fight off the British. -
Spain Declares War on Great Britain
Spain’s King Charles III would not agree to a treaty of alliance with the United States. But the French Foreign Minister negotiated a treaty with Spain to join their war against the British. Since France was United States were ally this was basically an endorsement. -
Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation declared that American citizens were sovereign people living in a federation of states. -
Treaty of Paris
The American Revolution officially comes to an end when representatives of the United States, Great Britain, Spain and France sign the Treaty of Paris. -
