Stamp Act
British Parliament required that taxes be paid on all paper products including newspapers, playing cards, legal documents, and license. -
Townshend Act
Developed by Charles Townshend, after the repeal of the Stamp Act. The Act was designed to put custom taxes on items such as tea, paper, glass, and paints. Townshend claimed it was to "support the civil government." This is where the "Taxation without Representation" saying came to be. -
Boston Massacre
During a cold night in Boston, a drunken mob of colonists throw snowballs at some soldiers. The colonist back then up againts the wall then the soldiers fire on them. It killed two, fately wounded three, and injured six. The soldiers get charged and are sent back to England. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonists disguise themselves as native americans and board three British ship containing tea. They dump about $1.2 million dollars worth of tea in the Boston Harbor. England heard about this and shut down the wealthiest port. Many people lost their jobs and the economy went into decline. -
Intolerable Acts
After the Boston Tea Party, the British closed the port at Boston and claimed that it would remain closed until all the tea dumped was reimbursed. American government leaders were removed and pro-British members were put in. Trial of royal officals were moved to other another colony. -
Olive Branch Petition
After the 2nd Continental Congress, the government officals choose to attempt peace with the British. It did not work but the Declaration of Independance came out of it. -
Second Continental Congress
Many delegets from the first Congress. Half of the delegets wanted peace while the other wanted war. They decided to come out with the Olvie Branch Patition. This fails but starts the Delcaration Independence. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
American colonist occupy Breeds Hill and Bunker Hill. The British made three attempts to capture Breed Hill. On the third attempt they did because the colonists run out of ammo. Shortly after, they took Bunker Hill. Almost half of the British army died. -
Common Sense is Published
Thomas Paine's "Comon Sense" is published and distributed. It is about common sense that the British are bad and doing bad things. It motaved the colonists to fight and increased the Patriot numbers. -
Declaration of Independence
Mostly written by Thomas Jefferson. It was based on the Enlightenment period. It explains everything that the colonists are getting mad at, why they are leaving, thier rights, and how they will continue to revolt if needed. It contains four parts.
It is the backbone for the constitution. -
Battle of Trenton
Early on the morning after Christmas, George Washington and his men sailed across the Delaware River to Trenton, NJ. He and his army of 2,400 defeat the drunk and sleepy red coats and German allies under the command of Colonel Rahl. This battle was a major victory for the Americans and enthusiated the American his and other American army. -
Battle of Saratoga
British General Burgoyne tried to cut off the New England colonies from the rest. Along thier path, colonists adapted many strategies from the natives and made road blocks, such as fallen trees, to slow down the red coats.The colonists end up facing the British and start taking out the generals and scouts. It leaves the troops confused and without a leader so they surrender and head back. This is the fisrt major victory for the colonists and the French decide to help financially and physically. -
Battle of Yorktown

General Charles Cornwillis amd his army of 8,000 men were marching down to Cowpens, South Carolina to close a major port. But when arriving in Yorktown,Virginia, his men were defeated by 14,000 Franco-American troops under George Washington. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris officially ends the American Revalution. It was what created the Declaration of Independence.The United States of America was offically created. It then gained Flordia. It also stated that loyalist were to be treated fairly.
