    Sons of Liberty
    The Sons of Liberty was an organization established to undermine British rule. It also started to carry out protests against the Stamp Act.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    Stamp Act of 1765
    The Stamp Act of 1765 was to put taxes on every page of printed paper they used, fees for playing cards, dice and newspapers. They did this to help pay for British troops stationed in the colonies during the Seven Years' War.
  • Townshend Act of 1767

    Townshend Act of 1767
    The Townshend Act of 1767 was to help pay for the expenses including governing the American colonies. This caused taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre happened because a group of people confronted eight British soldiers. The group threatened the soldiers and insulted them, causing the soldiers to fire, killing 5 colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was an act of protest where 342 chests of tea were thrown into Boston Harbor to show they did not like the tax on tea. This was taxation without representation that the British imported.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party and the Stamp Act led to the battles of Lexington and Concord. In the battle, both sides came but didn't expect to actually fight, until a gunshot went off and caused the British to fight.

    The Battle of Bunker Hill happened because the British were trying to keep control of the city and control its seaport. The Americans built a fort on one of the hills the British took and the British attacked, even though the Americans lost it gave them confidence.

    The Battle of Trenton was to boost the morale of the continental Army and galvanize the resolve of Americans who still believed in America's war for independence.

    The Battle of Camden was the worst American defeat of the war, with 5,400 men captured. This battle was to take control over the state.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    At the Battle of Yorktown, the British troops were waiting for supplies and reinforcements when the French and Americans tried to capture the British before they got new supplies and reinforcements. After being outnumbered, the British eventually surrendered to the Continental Army and their French allies.

    There were many events leading up to the Treaty of Paris, but the Battle of Yorktown is the battle that caused the Treaty of Paris. The Treaty of Paris was signed ending the War of the American Revolution.
  • 3/5 Compromise

    3/5 Compromise
    The Three-Fifths Compromise determined that slaves would count for three-fifths of a person for determining representation and taxation. This was used to bring the northern and southern states together.

    The Great Compromise was an agreement made to have two houses in Congress. The Senate, which was to have each state have two Senators, and the House of Representatives, which is where each state has a umber of Representatives clearly based on population.

    The Constitution was ratified letting the people know provisions of the proposed new government. Nine of the thirteen state legislatures ratified the Constitution.
  • Bill of Rights Adopted

    Bill of Rights Adopted
    On October 2, 1789, copies of the 12 amendments were sent out, by December 15, 1791, three-fourths of the states ratified 10 of those amendments. The Bill of Rights now has 10 Amendments, those Amendments protect some of the most important rights and liberties that make us Americans.
