French and Indian War
This war fought to control eastern North America between Britain and France and their Indian allies and it began in 1754 and it ended in 1763. Expensive war to protect colonies is ultimately a cause of the American Revolution. Another name of this war was called the seven-year war. -

The Proclamation of 1763 was a law that forbade the colonists to settle west of the Appalachian mountains. -
Sugar Act
This act took place in the 13 colonies and in this event, it had taxes on sugar, molasses, and most shipped goods. The person who created this act was a prime minister named George Greenville. People were outraged because of paying taxes for sugar. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament. This new tax was imposed on all American colonists and it had required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were all being taxed. -
The Boston Massacre
The colonists started to call the British soldiers names like "lobsters", and "redcoats". The soldiers became angry and started destroying colonists' property. The colonists became even angrier and started forming crowds and throwing rocks at the soldiers. British soldiers fired into the crowd killing some colonists. -
The Boston Tea Party
In December 1773, Samuel Adams warned Boston residents of the consequences of the Tea Act. Boston was boycotting the tea in protest of the Tea Act and would not let the ships bring the tea ashore. Finally, on the night of December 16, 1773, colonials disguised as Indians boarded the ships and threw the tea overboard. They did so because they were afraid that Governor Hutchinson would secretly unload the tea because he owned a share in the cargo. -
Intolerable Act
A series of laws set up by Parliament to punish Massachusetts for its protests against the British. The name was given by American Patriots who felt they simply could not "tolerate" such unfair laws. The British passed these acts as punishment for the Boston Tea Party. -
Boston Blockade
Another name for this event is called The Boston Port Act. In this Act, the British had to enforce the law parliament ordered the British navy to blockade Boston Harbor. Another way was that Britain stopped the Massachusetts legislature from meeting. -
Continental Congress
A group of colonial leaders that met to discuss how to take action against the British. The people who were included in this congress were people such as John Hancock, Samuel Adams, John Jay, Alexander Hamilton, etc. -
The Declaration of Independence
This was a document written by Thomas Jefferson and in this documentary, It declared independence from Britain and the formation of a new country, the USA.
