The French and Indian war, or seven years war, was a full scale war between french and the British colonial army. The reason for the war on both sides is that they each wanted land. -

The proclamation basically told colonists they could not settle west of the Appalachians. -

This act imposed the first tax directly on the american colonists. Things like sugar and molasses were taxed. -
The Boston Massacre
The boston massacre, known as the incident on king street to the British took place on March 5, 1770. A squad of british soldiers were being attacked by a mob of colonists. The mob of people were throwing sticks and rocks at the british soldiers when they opened fire and killed 5 patriot men. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party, which took place on December 16, 1773 was a protest against the British. The British imposed taxes on tea against the colonist due to the lack of money after excessive spending in the seven years war. Colonists protested against the tax policy by sending about 50 bostonians dressed up as Indians to board the ships and throw all of the tea crates into the sea. 342 crates of tea were destroyed. -
Boston Blockade
The blockade placed on the boston harbor was one of the acts passed in the intolerable acts. The Boston port act. -
Intolerable Acts
The intolerable acts passed in 1774 consisted of four acts. The quartering act, the Boston port act, the Massachusetts government act, and the administration of justice act. These acts were put in place to make life for colonists in Massachusetts bay horrible. Parlement passed these acts because they were angry from the Boston tea party. After the acts were established the first continental congress was held on September 5, 1774. -

Continental Congress
The first continental congress was held after the intolerable acts were passed by parliament in 1774. The congress was the official government of the colonies before the articles of confederation. -
The Declaration of independence.
On July 4, the delegates of the second continental congress signed a document that declared independence for the people of the united states of America from Great Britain. This gave them the right to create their own government.
