    The French and Indian war was due to the fact that at the time, both England and French settlers attempted to colonize land in Ohio River Valley. They both wanted this land, which eventually led to conflict, and war.

    Albany Plan of Union
    The Albany Plan of Union was written to create a unified government for the 13 colonies. It included a speech written by Ben Franklin.
  • Writs of Assistance

    Writs of Assistance
    The Writs of Assistance was a document written to prevent smuggling. This provided help to the british with their smuggling problems. Although, the colonists did not like this, they felt that it had violated their rights.

    The Sugar Act was created to put a tax on wine, sugar, molasses, and more. This forced the colonist to pay taxes on many common items in which they hadnt payed taxes on before causing them to protest towards the british leader. This grew concern with the british, which then eventually became one of the causes to the start of the american revolution.

    The Stamp Act was created to put taxes on every piece of paper that was printed. Since taxes were held on legal documents, diplomas, playing cards, etc. the colonist became angered and even called it “taxation without representation”. This led to the colonists boycotting the goods that were sent to them from britain.

    The Townshend Act was created to put taxes on consumer goods (paint,lead,etc). The colonist did not like this idea, which led them to another boycott. All taxes were removed except on tea.

    The Boston Massacre took place due to the riots that the colonists held against the britain sentinel. It showed the colonists the officials of the law and government. This then led to the american revolution.

    The Tea Act was created to place taxes on all tea in which were shipped by british ships.The colonists opposed against the act later leading to the Boston tea party.

    The main example of boycott that took place during the revolutionary war was the Boston Tea Party. When British tea ships arrived in Boston harbor, a lot of the citizens wanted the tea sent back to England without the payment of taxes. However they were denied as the royal governor insisted on payment of all taxes. This caused a group of men disguised as Indians to board the ships and dump all the tea in the harbor as a boycott of December 16.

    Coercive Acts striped massachusetts of their government and historic rights. They promoted sympathy for Massachusetts. and encouraged the colonists to form the First Continental Congress.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress was formed to help settle or act in response to the intolerable acts. It held a group of 56 delegates from 12 colonies (all except Georgia) and they all met in Philedelphia. Although they all had to gather in secret inorder for Great Britain not to suspect them as untited.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Lexington and Concord took place due to the British discovering that the Americans had a stockpile of weapons in Concord. After the British discovered this they occupied Boston and marched through Lexington to reach the weapon stock. Soon enough the first shot was fired and is now known as the "Shot Heard 'Round the World." The Americans were waiting for them in force, by the time the redcoats had reached concord. In the end the weapons depot was saved, and the British retreated.

    The Second Continental Congress met at the begining of the revolutionary war after noticing the disorganization of the armed forces and how badly things were going. The second continental congress then created the continental army to help and gave Geogre Washington the postion of commander-in-chief. The congress eventually even brought the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation and the Marines Corps.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle on Bunker Hill was a 2 day long battle on a hill actually named Breed's Hill however the event is known as Bunker Hill. It took place on the day after the Americans had occupied Breed's Hill in Charlestown in order to protect the shipyard of nearby Boston. The day after this the british had attacked and the battle continued until the Americans had run out of ammunition and were forced to retreat. Because of this, the British had conquerd the hill but lost many men.

    Olive Branch Petition
    In 1775, Congress created a petition declaring its loyalty to the king, George III, and asked for his help in reconciliation and to prevent further hostilities against the colonies. Four months later, King George III rejected the colonies petition and declared them in rebellion.

    The Declaration of Independence was a document declaring the 13 American Colonies independent from Great Britain. It was written by Thomas Jefferson and was declared in effect by the Continental Congress as well as signed by many prominent Americans.
