    The Stamp Act was a tax imposed onto British colonies for paper documents. It was put in place because the British were in severe debt. The colonists reacted angrily with the new tax.
  • The Declaratory Act

    The Declaratory Act
    When the colonists reacted angrily to the Stamp Act, the parliament of Britain posted the Declaratory Act which stated that parliament can make any new law or tax in any situation.

    The Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were taxes put on colonies and were very strict. It was put by the British to enforce their control over the colonies.

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was when a mob colonists started to harass a British guard at a bank. Then more guards came to help defend the guard, the colonists in turn started to throw rocks at them. It led to the guards to shoot the colonists killing some and causing more colonists to hate the British.

    The Boston Tea Party was an act of rebellion against the British by the colonists. The colonists in the middle of the night disguised as Indians went onto British ships and threw boxes of tea into the harbor

    The Tea Act was a tax for tea on the colonists by parliament. It would be one of the causes for the Boston Tea Party.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    It was a punishment for the colonists after the Boston Tea Party. The acts were the Boston Bill which closed Boston harbor, The Government Act which replaced local elections with a pre established governor, The Administration of Justice act where if you were a British citizen and charged with a crime you can have your court date in England, and lastly the Quartering Act which meant that colonists would have to let English soldier reside in their houses if they had to.
  • The battles of Lexington and Concord

    The battles of Lexington and Concord
    The British sent troops to seize weapons from the towns of Lexington and Concord so colonists wouldn’t use them. When they came the colonists rebelled and used the weapons against the British causing the start of the American Revolution.
