French and Indian War

Feb 10, 1763

War between Great Britian and France. Great Britian ends up gaining Canada and a lot of North America.
This started Great Britian taxing the colonists to pay for the war.

Stamp Act

Mar 22, 1765

It was a law that required all colonits to pay a tax on every printed paper.
This made colonists angry, and is kind of the start of the revolution.

Boston Massare

Mar 5, 1770

British soldiers shot colonists, who were rioting in the streets.
This would soon start the fighting and rebellion of the revolution.

Boston Tea Party

Dec 16, 1773

Colonists stormed British ships and dumped all the tea into the harbor.
This gave the colonists motivation to fight for their independence.

Intolerable Acts

Mar 24, 1774

Passed to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party.
It was a wake up call for the colonists to let them know what Great Britian can really do.

Lexinton and Concord

Apr 19, 1775

British soldiers marched to these towns in search of hidden weapons.
This was the kick off to the American Revolution.

Declaration of Independence

Jul 4, 1776

Listed the rights of man and kind of ended the fight for independence.

Saratoga

Oct 7, 1777

Americans capture British army, and they start to change war rules.
This is the turning point of the revolution.

Yorktown

Oct 19, 1781

British army was trapped and under seige.
This was another win for the colonists, making them closer to independence.

Treaty of Paris

Nov 30, 1782

Ended the revolutionary war and recognized American independence.

Constitution

Sep 17, 1787

Established America's national government and laws, and guaranteed certain basic rights for its citizens.

Bill of Rights

Dec 15, 1791

First ten amendments to the US Constitution and guaranteeing rights such as freedom of speech.
