The French were allied with the Native Americans, but still lost against the British and the colonies. Ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. -

Stamp Act
British Parliament put a tax on newspapers and commercial documents. Colonies rebelled against this act and was repealed in 1766. Helped start movement against British Crown. -
Boston Tea Party
An act of protest against the Tea Act which was led by the Sons of Liberty in Boston. They destroyed many shipments of tea sent by the East India Company. -
Intolerable Acts
A series of laws passed by the British Parliament to punish the Massachusetts colonist for the Boston Tea Party. It took away Massachusett's right to self-govern and historic rights. Helped in the outbreak of the American revolution. -
Salutary Neglect
A British policy that avoided sttrict enforcement of parliamentary law that kept American colonies obedient to the British. Allowed trade relation laws to be lenient. -
