French and Indian War

Period: 1754 to 1763

~The French and Indian War was between France and England.
~England won the War
~Britain heavily taxed the colonies to pay for the war.
~This was also known as the 7 year war.

Proclamation Line

~The boundary that forbid colonist's westward expansion.
~This was a part of the Peace Treaty from F&I war.
~The Land west from Appalachian mountains was reserved for Native Americans.
~The colonists were angered by the Proclamation and ignored the law.

Stamp Act

~This act taxed all paper items used by colonists.
~This Act angered Americans.

Townshends Acts

~This act put a tax on everyday products used by colonists.
~It was supposed to help pay for F&I war.
~This caused colonists to boycott and riot.

Boston Massacre

~This massacre was actually a fight between armed British soldiers and unarmed colonists.
~5 colonists were shot and killed.
~This event caused tensions to rise between British and colonists.
~This event was known as the Bloody Massacre

Boston Tea Party
