  • French & Indian War

    French & Indian War
    While it has nothing to do with the Indians/ Native Americans, it was a war fought between Great Britain and France between 1754-1763. It was fought over trade disputes in the Ohio River Valley.
  • Proclamation line of 1763

    Proclamation line of 1763
    Was a line that separated the colonies over the Appalachian Mountains. Was allowed to cross, but no support of the British could be acquired.
  • Currency Act

    Currency Act
    Was again, imposed on the colonists for F&I debts. Changed the way money was issued on colonists.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Imposed on the colonists in 1764, this was just one of the many infamous tax acts. It mainly put the tax on sugar, hence the sugar act.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Again, a tax imposed on the colonists by Britain. Was done on newspapers, so then they must be produced in Britain with British paper and a tax on stamps.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    This allowed British soldiers to be accompanied in colonists rooms. They would have to be served by the homeowners inside for almost everything.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    These were a series of acts placed by the British on the colonists, which had taxes for oil paint, lead, paper, and tea. This fueled the colonists angry reaction towards the british.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A shooting categorized as a "massacre" in 1770. Happened when British soldiers killed 5 people in a upcoming angry mob.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This was a well known spark of another event. Imposed a tax on tea, and singled out other tea sources except for Britain
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Was done by the colonists in response to the Tea acts. Colonists dumped a lot of moneys worth of Tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Was imposed on the colonists due to the Boston Tea Party. Was also called the Coercive Acts. They closed the Boston Harbor until order was restored.
  • First Continental Congress Meeting

    First Continental Congress Meeting
    A meeting to the response of the Coercive Acts. These colonies would eventually merge to be come the United States of America.
  • Battle Lexington and Concorde

    Starte don April 19, 1775. Two battles between Colonial Minutemen and British soldiers. British soldiers returned from a weapons search from Boston. The first battle, the colonists, but the second, they won.
  • Common Sense

    A pamphlet made by Thomas Paine. Written in clear persuasive, it encourage many people to join the cause for the Revolution.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The event that started it all! It was a document sent to England to declare the 13 colonists Independence.
