  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    War by the British to defend the colonies from the French and Native Americans. The British won the war but the land they fought for was owned by the Native Americans and to stop another war they told the colonists they were not allowed to move west, caused the tax to help pay for the war.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The stamp act imposed a new tax on most things the colonists needed to buy to help pay for the French and Indian war. It taxed paper, lead, and paint.
  • The townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts were passed to put a tax on most things colonists bought. The acts prohibited justice and possible and serously angered the american colonusts.
  • The Bostan Massacre

    The Bostan Massacre
    The Boston was where British troops fired and killed four unarmed people. It was used for propaganda where it was painted that a group of British soldiers shot down hundreds of unarmed colonists. This even was a leading point in creating the revolution.
  • Bostan Tea Party

    Bostan Tea Party
    The Sons of Liberty ran up to British ships disguised as native American's. They dumped a huge amount of tea into the harbor which today costs around a million dollars. This event happened to protest british tax on tea.
  • Intorable Acts

    Intorable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were passed by Parliament to punish the people of Boston. There was to be a royal governor appointed by the king and only one meeting per year. The acts also closed the Bostan Port so they could not bring hay for there horses.
  • The first continental congress was established

    The congress consisted of 12 British-American delegates that came together to discuss the problems within the colonies. This is were the first idea of the united states of america came up.

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The battle of Lexington and Concord started off the revolutionary war with a win for the colonists. British troops marched to take a weapons cache and were intercepted by colonists and the infamous Pual Revere sounded the alarm on horseback and soon the British were retreating under heavy fire.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The colonists set up on a hill and fired down on the advancing British. It ended being a British Victory but that only happened because the Colonists ran out of ammunition. It was a Moral Victory for the Colonists and got more people to beloive in the cuase.
  • Commen Sense

    Common Sense was a pamphlet published by Thomas Paine in 1776. The packet told people how great it would be if you were to help break free of Great Britain. It was a main point of getting people to rally against the crown. The packet helped get more people to join the war.
  • Declaration of independance is ratified

    The Leading colonists wrote the Declaration of Independence. This is the first official time where the colonists called themselves Americans. The document was sent right to the crown which angered King George the Third.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The Battle of Saratoga is the turning of the war after the colonists defeated the British. It convinced other potential allies like France to join the cause and helped renew the American morale. It was also the battle were the British and Hession troops surrendered to George Washington.
  • Battle Of Yorktown

    Battle Of Yorktown
    The battle of Yorktown marked the surrender of British troops and the end of the American war. The French blocked in the British escape and the Americans pounded them with artillery. It was supposed to be a harbor for the british fleet.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty that ended the war and gave America its independence. It was signed by King George the third. The British General sent his second in command to sign because he was embarressed.
  • The stamp act was repealed

    People outraged with the stamp act the lawayers and governers came togher to repeal the acts.
