    French and Americans trap General Cornwallis and his army in 1781 Yorktown, Virginia.

  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty that officially ended the American revolution and gave America freedom in 1783.

  • Articles of Confederation

    America stopped using the articles of confederations in 1787 because it created a weak central government that couldn’t levy taxes.
