France continued exploring the Ohio River Valley despite battles coming up with the British until Britain finally declared war. -
Proclomation of 1763
After Great Britain aquired some territory from France in the French and Indian War, King George III issued this saying no settlers could explore past the Appalachian Mountains. -
Stamp Act
This required all colonists to pay a tax on every peice of printed paper they used. -
Quartering Act
This required American colonists to provide any housing or accomodations British soldiers needed. -
Declaratory Act
This removed the Stamp Act. -
Boston Massacre
5 American colonists were killed by British soldiers. -
The Tea Act
This was the final spark to the revolutionary movement in Boston. The Tea Act did not impose any new taxes on the colonists it was to help out a company who was struggling and had too much tea and they needed to sell some. The colonist just took it the wrong way though. -
Boston Tea Party
To protest ongoing taxation, colonist attacked ships in the Boston Harbor and dumped the tea that was on board them overboard. -
1st Continental Congress
Every colony exept Georgia sent delegates to the 1st Continental Congress. Those delgates were all elected. It didn't go as smooth as planned cause each colony wanted to handle things differently. -
2nd Continental Congress
All 13 colonies were represented at the 2nd Continental Congress. Even though it wasn't the plan at first The Declaration of Independence began to be written during this. -
The Declaration of Independence
Written by Thomas Jefferson and made our offical withdrawal from Great Britain.
