Stamp Act

Townshend Act

The colonists boycotted all British goods and everything besides tea was repealled. A non-violent groupd called the Sons of Liberty was formed during this time period. -
Boston Massacre

The word "massacre" was put in to emphasize and overdramatize the fact that people were being killed and that things were going out of hand. -
Boston Tea Party

Parliment was allowing the East India Company to sell tea for a very low price because the company was going bankrupt. The infuriated colonists overthrew 342 crates of tea into the Boston Harbor. -
Coercive Acts

Parliment closed the Boston port until the tea was paid for and town hall meeting were outlawed without the govenors consent. The other colonies supplied Boston with supplies which showed that they had their backs. -
Continental Congress

This group of men demanded Parliment to repeal everything that was done to the colonies since 1763. This lead to the Battle of Lexington and Concord because the king responded to this by sending troops to arrest the leaders involved in the Continental Congress. -
Lexington and Concord "Shot Heard Round the World"

John Hancok and Samuel Adams were arrested during this battle for trying to overthrow Parliment. Paul Reveire's famous quotes "The Red Coats are coming" derived from this event. -
Battle of Bunker Hill

Even though Great Britain won, it caused them great loss and many casualties. The Continental Cognress began insisting men to join the army after this battle.
