This was the very first thing that made colonists upset. The British tried taking advantage of the colonists and creating a stamp act, where they would be taxed more on stamps. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a deadly riot that happened in Boston. It started as a street fight between the British and the Colonists. Somebody then shot their rifle and it became known as, "the shot heard around the world." After this shot, chaos ensued. This conflict paved the way for the American Revolution. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act would launch the final spark to the revolutionary movement in Boston. This once again, was another bad Act for the colonists. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonists did it as a protest, and it occurred in Boston, Massachusetts. Colonists dumped 342 chests of tea into the bay. The colonists did this because they were frustrated with Britain for imposing "taxation without representation." Because of the Boston Tea Party, Britain shut down the Boston Harbor until all the tea was paid for. -
Coercive/Intolerable Acts
This act was created by the British because of the Boston Tea Party and other acts of destruction. The main goal of this was to punish people in Boston for the Tea Party. The people of Boston were outraged by this and fought back. -
First Continental Congress
This first meeting was held to organize colonial resistance to Parliament's Coercive Acts. A member from every state was there except for Georgia. They also called on colonies to stop importing goods from the British Isles. -
Lexington and Concord
The Battles of Lexington and Concord started the Revolutionary War. The night before the British brought troops to take guns that the Colonists had. Because of this, it started the American Revolutionary War. -
Second Continental Congress
The second continental congress appointed ambassadors, issuing paper currency, appoint generals to lead the army, and many more. This helped America become more organized. -
Declaration of Independence adopted
This is when the 13 Colonies split off from Great Britain and become their own country. Britain was not happy with this and went to war with the U.S. -
Battle of Saratoga
The Battle of Saratoga was a battle between the 13 Colonies and the United Kingdom. It included 2 battles in it. The Battle of Saratoga was a turning point in the war. -

Winter at Valley Forge
This is where 11,000 soldiers were stationed. Hundreds of them died from diseases. This winter was very brutal and harsh for all soldiers. -
Battle of Yorktown
This battle ended on October 17th, 1781 and this is when George Washington led a force of 17,000 French and Continental troops. This was the most important battle of the Revolutionary War. This battle was the reason the United States was able to win the war. -
U.S. Constitution adopted
This is when the constitution was first written discussing the government and laws. This helped shape America to what it is today. -
U.S. Constitution written
When the U.S. wrote the constitution, it established laws and government. It said what type of government the U.S. would have and how the country would operate. The constitution declared America as an independent country with its own government.
