     End of French and Indian War
    Battle over the Ohio River Valley with the french and native Americans against the colonists and British. The British spend lots of money on the war for no immediate return and further rolling the ball on the American Revolution. Ended with the signing of The Treaty of Paris in 1763.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    After the French and Indian War, the British got hit hard economically, with British citizens having to pay taxes for a war that they had no part in. So they attempted to end the import of molasses and sugar from other non-British sources to increase the amount of revenue the British were receiving from the Americans.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The British's first taxation on the Americans was the Stamp Act. They taxed all paper documents in the colonies as a way to get out of debt from the French and Indian War. This slowed down the spread of ideas throughout the colonies.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was the passing in that the local governments had to provide British soldiers with housing and food. This meant by either building a housing unit, or letting them be housed in local inns, stables, or citizens houses.
  • Townsend Revenue Act

    Townsend Revenue Act
    American jobs now had to to help pay for the administration of the colonies. This meant that they paid for the colonies themselves. Colonial assemblies condemn “taxation without representation.” This meant if they were a part of Britain, and they had to pay taxes to them, that they wanted a say in what happens politically, or have a representative in their government.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British soldiers shot and killed 5 people after being harassed by a crowd of Americans. The Americans heavily publicized this event, which furthered their hatred towards the British.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    British made an act that only the tea the British had would be the only tea that the colonists could drink. Colonists were stubborn about the act and in some ports they did not allow the tea to be unloaded or left the tea on the dock to rot.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Americans angered by the Tea Acts, dumped 46 tons of tea into the Boston Harbor, this is around 1 million dollars in today's money. The Americans dressed up as Native Americans while taking them nearly three hours to dump it all into the water.
  • The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord
    This Battle was the first actual military conflict between the Americans and the British in the war. This would then lead to 24 more recorded battles.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was the documentation that Americans have had enough, they were ready to be their own and rule themselves. This is where the representatives of America were finally going to file that they were able to be independent. The document was signed in Philadelphia on August 2, 1776.
