    After the British were in debt after the 7 year war the British parliament created this as the first internal tax put upon the Americans. It imposed a tax on all paper documents in the colonies and this angered the colonies.   • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Before the Boston Massacre occurred Redcoats had been sent to the colonies. They were sent due to the fact that the proclamation line had been ignored and the colonists were upset about the Stamp Act. This lead to tension and rioting and in return/defense the redcoats shot at the colonists.     Was a protest against Britains “Taxation without Representation”. The colonists dressed as Native Americans and dumped crates of tea into the harbor.     Was an important start to the American Revolution. Was one of the first actual battles. There was actual tension leading up to this point.     Before the battle took place the colonists had learned that the British would be coming to occupy the surrounding hills of the city so the colonists beat them to it. The British did win the battle but it was still important to the colonists due to the fact that the casualties were much worse for the British.     The pamphlet Common Sense by Thomas Paine was a great piece of work that challenged the authority of the British Government. It was a great way of pushing the colonists to rebel, to stand up and fight the British.     Was a formal statement sent to the king and queen saying they had the right to be free and choose their own government and didn’t need the British. It was written by Thomas Jefferson.   • Battle at Trenton/Princeton

    Battle at Trenton/Princeton
    Washington crossed the Delaware on Christmas and within the next 10 days won 2 major battles of the revolution. In the battle of Trenton he defeated a group of Hessians. Then lured the British forces south and overnight captured Princeton. These battles helped the Americans regain control over most of New Jersey.     Saratoga consisted of two major battles from September to October in 1777. This included the battle of Bemis heights and the battle of Quebec.     Was the final battle of the American revolution. General Cornwallis in the end surrendered to General Washington’s American force with the French allies.
