American Revolution

  • Treaty of Paris

    It made all French soldiers evacuate and give up all of their land, which also ended the French and Indian war.
  • Proclamation line of 1763

    The line made the colonists only have the East Coast and the natives have the rest of the land they won from the French.
  • Pontiac's Rebellion

    Pontiac led Shawnee, Delaware, and other tribes to capture multiple British forts.
  • Sugar Act

    It taxed molasses and sugar. One of the first Acts.
  • Stamp Act

    To profit from paper, parchment, playing cards, and other things made of paper.
  • Quartering Act

    It made 10,000 British soldiers go across and be quartered in ALL of the colonists houses.
  • Writs of Assistance

    To give legal reason for any search at any time of any house.
  • Declaratory Act

    It gave the British SUPREME power over the colonists and anything they do.
  • Townshend Act

    Taxed:
    Paint
    Lead
    Paper
    Glass
    and Tea and made a loophole for more profit.
  • Boston Massacre/Incident on king street

    There were a lot of colonists all trowing clubs, snowballs, ice, and oyster shells at some British soldiers. When the colonists do this, they cause the soldiers to become angry and scared of what to do. They lined up in formation and even before the captain said fire, they fired and killed 5 people.
  • Tea Act

    The British removed all of the Townshend Acts, except for one, the tax on tea. This caused issues because it made tea cheaper, and placed a monopoly on the East Britain India Company, so they get all profit and the merchants don't.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Three ships were parked in a harbor in Boston, Sons of Liberty decided they were going to toss all of the tea off into the harbor, so they did. The guards did not fire, and they did not do anything to stop it.
  • Coercive Acts

    The Coercive acts:
    1. The Port of Boston if closed until damages are paid back
    2. Only one meeting without the Governor's permission
    3. British officials will now be tried in Britain instead of the colonies
    4. House British soldiers(The Quartering Act)
  • Suffolk resigns or first continental congress

    The congress decides to encourage colonists to form a militia(civilian army)
  • Battle Of Lexington and Concord

    The battle of Lexington and Concord happened when British troops marched to nearby Concord to take over the Colonist's guns and ammo they stored there. The colonists luckily heard this before and hid all of their weapons. The British military marched over to Lexington and found a militia of 77 militiamen and to this day, no one knows who fired first.8 colonists lay dead, and 9 more wounded. Only one british soldier was injured
  • Second Continental Congress

    This had George Washington as General of the whole Continental Army, decided on the Olive branch petition and allowed the printing of money.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker hill did not actually happen on Bunker hill, it happened on nearby Breed's hill. The patriots fortified themselves there and had the higher ground as Britain's seemingly endless army tried two times to push up the hill and fail. The third time they were successful. The patriots counted this as a win because they were able to hold the greatest army in the world, off of them.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    The Olive Branch petition was an attempt at peace with King George the 3rd. The King refused and The colonists started to write the Declaration of Independence. The King was infuriated with the colonists.
  • "Common Sense"

    Published on this date, but written in January of this same year,Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" was a small pamphlet that showed most patriot's view on the British. Tyrannical. The short essay was to inspire more American colonists to come to the patriot's side and help defend against the British.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence was to tell Britain, themselves, and the whole world that they are they're own country and that they deserved to be treated so. This document was written by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Rodger Sherman, and Robert Livingston, Thomas Jefferson was the main writer, while the others corrected or added things to it. The Declaration is sorted into 3 parts: The basis of human rights, A list of grievances, and a statement of separation.
  • Battle Of Trenton

    This was when Washington famously crossed the Delaware river. He did this because there were an army of German Mercenaries was on the other side. The Continental Army went on and attacked the Hessians by night and caught them by surprise.
  • Battle Of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga was one of the main turning points, as it caused the French to actually notice and help them. France waited to see if they were going to be fighting a losing battle , so this small but important helped convince France they weren't going to lose to the British in another war.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    The winter after Saratoga was absolutely terrible, as the Continental army had to march 21, some even with no shoes, bloody and frostbitten. They had lost 2000 troops to the cold, malnutrition, and disease. It ended june 9th 1778
  • battle of yorktown

    The battle of yorktown was the last important battle in the American Revolution. It ended when general cornwallis surrendered yorktown over to the patriots.
  • treaty of Paris 1783

    This ended the Revolution, in the patriot's favor. This allowed America to finally have its own independence, free from the rule of the king, and this made Britain realize the colonists deserve it.
