  • Treaty of Paris (French and Indian War)

    Treaty of Paris (French and Indian War)
    Britian claimed all of North America east of Mississippi River. Rewarding Spain for its help, France gave it New Orleans and Louisiana, French territory west of the Mississippi. Britian which seized Cuba and the Philippines from Spain, gave them back in exchange for Florida. The treaty ended French power in North America.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Resources Used Forbids settlers from settling past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains. The purpose of this Proclamation was to organize Great Britians new North American empire and to stabalize relations with Native North Americans through trade, settlement and land purchases. Attracted British settlers to province because British culture laws were applied in Upper Canada after 1791.
  • Sugar Act

    A law passed by Parliament that placed a tax on sugar, molasses, wine and other products shipped to the colonies. In result of the Sugar Act, there was strict enforcement and hard punishments of smugglers. Colonial merchants, who often traded in smuggled goods were angry.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    A law passed by Parliament that required all legal and commercial documents to carry an official stamp showing a tax had been paid. Included all diplomas, contracts, and newspapers. Colonists and merchants were being taxed consent, and it raised taxes.
  • Quartering Act

    Resources UsedThe Quartering Act passed March 24,1765. It required the colonies to house British soldiers in barracks provided by the colonies. If the barracks were to small, then localities were used to house the soldiers. New York colonial assembly didn't like the idea of having to house soldiers, they prefered being asked and then with their consent given the ok to house soldiers.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A clash between British soldiers and Boston colonists. Tensions finally exploded and five of the colonists including Crispus Attacks were killed.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    An act that gave a monopoly on tea sales to the East India Company. The East India Company wasn't doing so well so the British wanted to give them more business. The result being that American colonists couldn't buy tea unless it came from that company.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A group of men disguised as Native Americans boarded 3 tea ships docked in Boston Harbor. In about 3 hours, 342 chests of tea were destroyed and thrown overbaord to protest the Tea Act. Colonists rejoiced at the news, believing that Britian would now see how stronly colonists opposed taxation without representation.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Parliament passed a series of lawas to punish the Massachusetts colony and to serve as a warning to other colonies. They were originally called The Coercive Acts but were so harsh that the colonists called them the Intolerable Acts. The Intolerable Acts were a series of laws passed by Parliament in response to the 1773 Boston Tea Party. In response to the Intolerable Acts, First Continental Congress bans trade, and militias were organized.

    Resources UsedMet in Philadelphia to protest the Intolerable Acts.. Representatives joined from all colonies except Georgia. The Congress voted to cut off colonial trade with Great Britain unless Parliament abolished the Intolerable Acts. Hostilities had begun between Britian and the colonies.

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The battles marked outbreak of open armed conflict between the conflict of Kingdom of Great Britian, and its 13 colonies. The first shots were fired just as the sun was rising in Lexington. After the battle, less than 1,700 men marched back to Boston, reaching the safety or Charlestown.

    It was a convention of delegates from the 13 colonies. that started meeting in the summer. Took steps of declaring American's independence from Britian by adopting Declaration of Independence on July 4th,1776.

The Declaration has 3 parts, the famous Preamble, a list of charges against Ging George the third, and a conclusion.

    British soldiers fired on American pickets stationed near crossroads in Brooklyn, Washington observed the fight from Cobble Hill. General Howe halted the fighting by the early afternoon and directed his men to dig trenches around the American position on the next day, Washington ordered his men to surrender. 9,000 Continentals were rowed back to Manhattan.

    The American Crisis is a collection of articles. They were written during the American Revolutionary War. One of the most successful was 'Common Sense' that argued for independence from England.

    On Christmas night, the British were relaxed and unsuspecting, so Washington and his men attacked. Americans captured 1000 prisoners in 1 hour and took Trenton. Washington lost 4 men while 8 were wounded. The Hessians had suffered 22 deaths.
