    Reduced tax on molasses while simultaneously increasing the enforcement of anti-smuggling laws. When the British started to enforce the taxes more harshly, colonists began to question the "good nature" of British Parliament. Beginning of "bad blood" between the Americans and British.
  • Stamp Act

    Forced colonists to pay for paper goods. Sponsored the first revolt against the British. This is where the colonists first began to actively work against the British. Further exacerbated the tensions growing between the colonists and British.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    Implemented to tax a variety of goods imported to the colonies. Colonials took this as a direct attack and strengthened their stand against British tyranny.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Colonials were harassing the British army. The British army killed 5 colonials. Two soldiers are convicted of manslaughter. The first death of the Revolutionary War. Sparked the first spouts of warfare between the British and colonists.
  • Coercive Acts

    Coercive Acts
    The four acts, when combined with the Quebec Act, formed the Intolerable Acts. The final straw that broke the colonial camel's back. Pushed the colonials to the brink of war, setting the stage for the American Revolution.
