In Salem, Massachusetts 1692 is where 26 women were hung for suspected of witch craft. -
Trial of John Peter Zenger
This trial led the the First Amendment of the American Constitiution. It was held because John Peter Zenger published the New York Weekly Journal accusing the govenment of rigging elections and letting the French enemy explore New York Harbor. -
French and Indian War
Also known as the Seven Years War. The war was between the British American and New France. It finally ended with the Treaty of Paris. -
Proclamation of 1763
This was issued by King George III following Great Britian's acquisition of French territory in North America after the end of the French and Indian War. -
Stamp Act
The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. The money collected by the Stamp Act was to be used to help pay the costs of defending and protecting the American frontier near the Appalachian Mountains. -
Quartering Act
Required coloniest to provide food and shelter for British troops. -
Declaratory Act
The Stamp Act was repealed. Parliament declared the power to legislate for colonies. -
Boston Massacre
5 colonist were killed by British Regulars. It was the tensions in the American colonies that had been growing since Royal troops first appeared in Massachusetts. -

This act was created to help the East India Company from bankruptcy after the Boston Tea Party. -
Boston Tea Party
This led to the Tea Act. Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty boarded three ships in the Boston harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overboard. -
1st Continental Congress
The first Continental Congress met in Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia, from September 5, to October 26, 1774. All of the colonies except Georgia sent delegates. -
2nd Continental Congress
The Second Continental Congress was a convention of delegates from the Thirteen Colonies that started meeting in the summer of 1775, Pennsylvania, soon after the American Revolutionary War had begun. -

This document mad the 13 colonies independent and were no longer part of Britian.
