the british chose to march to concord because it was an arms depot , which meant the americans had stock pilled weapons there. As they passed through lexington someone fired a shot so both sides opened fire , the americans had to withdraw but they slowed down the british. So by the time they got to concord they were waiting for them in force and made them retreat. -
