A battle where the British marched into the Colonist territory attempting to take there weapons. The first shots that were fired was in Lexington but no one knows who shot first the Colonist or the British -

This is when the fight started and when the colonist decided to start to fight back. There were multiple events leading up to this point leading the Americans want freedom. The main events where about the raise of taxes without having a say in it. Known as "Taxation without representation" -

Siege of Boston
A siege of Boston where the Americans surrounded the city and the British had to retreat and give up the city of Boston. This was the first win that the Colonist would have with the brains of Washington leading them. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
This was a battle for the colonists to defend Boston from British control. They set up on two hills one being called Bunker Hill. Naming the battle after the hill. The colonist would push the British back 3 times but lose and the British claimed Boston -
Battle of New York
This was a big battle after the colonists took back Boston. The two armies would meet up and fight to claim the city. The British would win this battle after two day of fighting -
The Battle of Trenton
This is a battle where Washington decided to float down the river and ambush the Hessian's (Natives that were helping British). This was on the 25th because they would be celebrating Christmas and be drunk and unprepared. -
The battle of Princeton
This was supposed to be a battle for the British to take over Boston again. A group from the north and south was supposed to attack but the southern General went off track and went to take Philadelphia. This caused both battles to fail. -
Battle of Saratoga
This was when the British from the north were coming down to Boston to ambush the colonists. There ended up being a treacherous journey to Boston giving the Americans plenty of time to prepare for their arrival -

Valley Forge
This is when the Colonist settled for the winter in a valley called Forge. This was a very brutal winter where the Americans did not have the best supplies to survive in the harsh environment. -
Foreign Officers Arrive
This is when foreign officers came to help the Continental Army become more trained and ready for combat. This happened during the spring and Valley Forge. -
Battle of Monmouth
This was a battle when the
The British were leaving Philadelphia after the winter. Washington wanting to use his new trained army went to play a game of chase. He was able to push so far back that he gained all of the land that was lost. -
Adding Freed American Soldiers
This is when the Americans accept slaves to go and fight in the war. This ended up making 15% of the Continental Army having a huge impact in war -
Clinton Invades the South
This is when General Clinton went and decided to invade the South because the Americans where focused on the north. With no one to stop them they were easily able to take the Carolinas and Georgia -

Siege of Yorktown
This was a siege where the French just sent more supplies to the Americans. These supplies and people make it very easy for them to surround the city. Shots were fired for weeks. Eventually the British fled and General Cornwallis did not want to be seen. -
The End of Fighting
The war ended as soon as the British and Americans signed the Treaty of Paris. This marked a new nation being made and free from fighting. This would end up being the first time that a smaller part of a nation declared independence and successfully won. This gave hope to a lot of different nations to do there own rebellion and some were successful. -
The Treaty of Paris
This was a Treaty that was signed to end the war. There were three major points in this treaty. 1 that the British would look at America as a country. 2 England would need to give up land south of Canada and east of the Mississippi River. 3 US would need to return land to the loyalist taken during the war.
