  • Navigation Acts

    The navigation acts were laws passed by England to maintain control over colonial trade. The acts made colonist by English good and limited trade between the colonies and other countries.
  • Writs of Assistance

    Writs of assistance is a pass to go search inside of any ones home without consent or permission. This effected them because there were then no loop holes and they couldn't get away with anything.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The document that ended the war between the British and the French that was fought near the Ohio River Valley. This treaty ended French power in North America and expanded British territory.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Following Great Britain's acquisition of French territory in North America after the end of the French and Indian War/Seven Years' War.
  • Sugar Act

    The sugar act was an act that put taxes on sugar bought by colonists, but it didn't work because people just smuggled it in.
  • Stamp Act

    The stanp act is where any paper you bought, you had to pay for taxes. Which impacted them because this could range from a letter, to a deck of cards.
  • Quartering Act

    The quartering act is where any British soldier can go inside of any colonists home and do what they want to. This effected the colonists because they were forced to provide them with food and shelter, and plus they were also made to provide them sleep and the British did not even have to pay rent.
  • Stamp act congress

    The stamp act congress protested the stamp act.This made the king repeal the stamp act but pass another one.
  • Declaratory Acts

    This is the act that pretty much just stated that he was still in charge and he was not being phased by the colonists. This effected them in no way because they just ignored.
  • TownsHend acts

    The Townshend acts is when the boat or ship arrived they would immediately tax them instead of waiting and making them pay later.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was where colonists were taunting the British soldiers and then they attacked them, then they called it the Boston Massacre even though only 5 people died. This effected the colonials because they were found innocent.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party is when the Sons of Liberty dumped tons of tea into the Boston Harbor. The effected the colonists because the King then shut down the Boston Harbor
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act was where they took away all the taxes except on tea, the colonists were upset about this because it gave the east India company a monopoly
  • Coercive Acts

    This act was meant to punish the colonists for their defiance and throwing all the tea into the Harbor. They shut down the British Harbor
  • First Continental Congress

    The first continental congress is where the 13 colonies except Georgia met up, and decided what to do about the Revolution War. This effected the colonists because they had to figure out if they were going to fight or not, which would mean they would have to leave their family.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The battles of Lexington and Concord was the first engagement between the colonists and the British, this was the start of the Revolutionary War. This effected the colonists because they lost and lost the lives of several fellow colonists.
  • Battle at Bunker Hill

    The Battle at Bunker Hill was when the British and Colonists met up at this hill and fought, even though the British killed many of their men, they still kept the high ground at Bunker Hill.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    The Olive Branch Petition is where the colonists sent a letter to the king saying it's not to late, even though we fought at bunker hill and Lexington an Concord, we can still have peace, but the king rejected it saying this is our land, you will know who is boss.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense was an article stating why it was common sense to want independence from Great Britain to people in the Thirteen Colonies. Written in clear fine print, Paine marshaled moral and political arguments to encourage common people in the Colonies to fight for egalitarian government.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence, 1776. By issuing the Declaration of Independence, adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, the 13 American colonies severed their political connections to Great Britain. The Declaration summarized the colonists' motivations for seeking independence.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress was the second meetup of the 13 colonies and they decided what they were going to do again, this effected them because they were yet again deciding who was fighting and who was not.
